Sabina Covo, Director
Recognized as one of the most influential Colombians in South Florida by The Americas Community Center and Broward County, and included in the Top 20 professional younger than 40 by Brickell Magazine in 2013, Sabina Covo brings on more than twelve years of journalism experience, in the United States and Latin America.
She has been a reporter, TV host and correspondent for Mundofox, Telemundo, Cadena Ser, La W y Caracol, La televisión Nacional de Austria, Prisa, and ADN Chile. Sabina has interviewed personalities such as Secretary of State Madeline Albright, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe or international star Julio Iglesias to name a few. Her articles have been published in Miami Monthly Magazine, Reinventing Beauty, Beauty Handbook, USA Today, Azure Azure and others.In 2008 she got a Building Our Community Award from international entity March of Dimes for her work within the organization and in 2009 she was nominated by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce with a “Rising Star Award.”
Today, she is a political news anchor for America TV and a columnist for El Nuevo Herald, and La Prensa. She graduated from Florida International University with a Communications and Political Science Degree.
Valeria Ricciulli, Editor
Valeria is a multilingual journalist and writer born and raised in Cartagena, Colombia, who believes in the merging of truth and media for the sake of social change. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Manhattanville College, New York, and is currently completing a Media Management graduate certificate in The New School.
Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, she uses her multicultural skills to report and write for online media outlets and to serve as a public relations executive. She has worked in the communications departments of several non-profits and international organizations including DoSomething.org, The American Red Cross at Greater New York, and Doctors Without Borders (MSF.)
Melissa Taveras, Contributing Writer
A profound understanding of how the media work is required in order to develop effective communication strategies. Working as a journalist, web reporter, digital manager and editor, producer, assignment desk editor, corporate and non-profit communications director, as well as public relations manager for the largest record label in the United States cemented Melissa as an expert in the field of communications.
Most recently, Melissa’s work has circumvented around socially conscious solutions for so many of our society’s pressing problems. She has written blogs and developed communications and public relations strategies for foundations such as Sachamama and the Climate Reality Project, as well as collaborated with organizations like the World Wildlife Federation and the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health.
Melissa graduated from Florida International University with a degree in International Relations and Journalism, and she completed coursework for a Master’s in International Political Economy at the University of Miami, with a focus on sustainable development.
