Audrey Gruss, founder and chairman of the Hope for Depression Research Foundation (HDRF), launched perfume line Hope Fragrances, directing 100% of the profits to the foundation’s research efforts.
According to a statement, Gruss launched the non-profit in honor of her mother, Hope, who “struggled with mental illness for decades”.
Hope Fragrances are available in the United States at HopeFragrancesInt.com, and provide a “magnificent fusion of the most aromatic white flowers – including lily of the valley, jasmine, gardenia and tuberose – the most pure and delicate essences that lift the senses”.
Gruss founded the HDRF in 2006 to discover new medications, treatments, and prevention of depression.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, an estimated 16.2 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode. Worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, more than 300 million people of all ages suffer from depression, which makes it the leading cause of disability worldwide.
