DonorsChoose.org announced Wednesday that blockchain solutions provider Ripple donated $29 million to fulfill 35,647 requests from teachers across the United States.

According to the organizations, teachers at 16,561 public schools will receive books, school supplies, technology, field trips, and other resources vital for learning.

“We are awestruck by the generosity of the Ripple team,” Charles Best, founder of DonorsChoose.org said. “Their gift will provide learning materials and experiences to more than a million students, overwhelmingly in low-income communities.”

The gift is the largest donation the organization has received in its 18-year history  according to a statement.

“At Ripple, we care about giving back to our community and we collectively value the importance of quality education in developing the next generation of leaders,” Monica Long, SVP of Marketing at Ripple, said.

The donation culminated the #BestSchoolDay campaign, started in March 2016, that allowed athletes, artists, entrepreneurs and philanthropists to fund classroom requests across the nation.
